Where to Eat in Disney World
With over a 140 Disney World restaurants, it can be hard to pick where to eat. Yet, it’s critical to think about such things in advance as many restaurants can fill up as far as 6 months in advance. Planning is key and I’m here to help you pick the best places. I’ve narrowed my top choices down to five taking taste, atmosphere and that legendary Disney service into consideration.
Sleepy Hollow is a quick service window located in the Magic Kingdom by the Hall of Presidents. They have a variety of “snacks” here. I use that term snack loosely because the waffle sandwiches are big enough for a lunch or to share. Our absolute favorite is the Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich: it has fresh blueberries and strawberries with a hazelnut spread. Eating this luxurious sandwich with Cinderella’s castle in view is one of my favorite things. While it’s not on the Disney Dining Plan, I promise it won’t disappoint! Plus, it’s an excellent value because of its sharing potential.
Next is the Tusker House, a buffet-style character meal located in the Africa section of Animal Kingdom. You are guaranteed to see Donald Duck and pals dressed in their safari gear. 11:30 am is a great time to plan a meal at the Tusker House: they will still have breakfast foods out and will be switching over to lunch, so you get the best of both worlds. The food is delicious! With the carving stations and the variety of salads, I would not plan on eating the rest of the day. Tusker House is a 1 table service credit on the Dining Plan, and is quite a good value. In addition, new for 2018 Disney Dining plans is the inclusion of alcoholic or specialty drinks with your meal. Now you will be able to order 1 alcoholic or specialty drink per meal where available. My vote is for the Lost on Safari beverage!
Located in the Beach Club resort, this small Disney World restaurant has very limited seating. It would be a great spot to take a break after being in Epcot for the day, as it is within walking distance from the park. Due to its popularity and restaurant size, I recommend making reservations at the 180 day mark. Beaches and Cream is a 50s theme soda shop. They have a pretty good burger and fries here, but the famous Kitchen Sink sundae is quite the draw! No joke, this could easily serve your entire family! They make a big deal about it when you order it, so have your camera ready. Beaches and Cream is a 1 credit table service restaurant.
Whispering Canyon, located at the Wilderness Lodge, is a restaurant with lots of personality located. Arrive a couple minutes early because you will want to take a minute to walk around this amazing resort. Whispering Canyon is right off the lobby so it’s easy to find. From the hostess to the wait staff everyone here has a fun personality, you can’t help but smile as you walk to your seat. The food here is nothing short of exceptional. It is fresh, delicious and with hearty portions you will not go home hungry. This is a 1 table service credit for each meal. After your dinner you can take a short boat ride over to the Magic Kingdom in time for fireworks.
My favorite hidden gem is La Cava del Tequila. Located inside Epcot’s Mexican pavilion, La Cava del Tequila is a tequila bar you won’t want to miss. Once you head down the stairs or ramp into the Mexican shop area, take an immediate right. La Cava is a little hole in the wall, and you could totally miss it on your way to the Mexican boat ride. You can order a margarita or tequila sampler at the bar. The margaritas are the best and you can get them to go! Or you can sit and enjoy one with the world’s best guacamole and chips. There are other margaritas on property but the classic margarita is my favorite of all the Disney World restaurants (and that’s saying a lot!).
